Easter Egg Hunt

The girls got up and saw that the Easter Bunny had eaten the carrots they had left for him, and in exchange, hid some eggs and baskets for them.  They found all the eggs very quickly, and even gobbled them up for breakfast. Afterwards we went to Easter services, which were crowded, and then for brunch nearby.  Everyone got to wear their fancy new clothes too.

Dying our Easter Eggs

Only a couple of pix.  One of the girls could not resist, and had to taste the vinegar based dye.  She had to brush her teeth to get the unpleasant sour taste out of her mouth.  Plus a picture of a spinach quiche I baked.

A portrait of the artist as a young (wo)man

Drawing on their easel.  Busy day yesterday:

  • Playing at their nonny's
  • Lunch & shopping at IKEA
  • Artwork
  • Helping dad cook some ono (wahoo) fish
  • Bathtime

And then, if you click on the above, you can see where two nosy raccoon's tried to get into the kitchen, and I took some pictures.  They must have been hungry...

We made cinnamon buns, bacon, and strawberries for breakfast today and now they have put on their new Palm Sunday outfits with shiny white shoes.

What a difference 10 days makes...

A friend was visiting from NYC who wanted to go skiing, so I cheerfully agreed to head up to Tahoe with him.  But what a difference compared to last week.

Ten days ago at Northstar it was midwinter snow conditions, and this weekend it was classic spring skiing with corn snow, slush, and a little ice.

Having spent so many years on Vermont's surface, I actually tried to stick to the drier (but icier) parts of the mountain.

We had a good time.

Balloon animals

There was a guy standing out in front of the dim sum place when we left. He must make a fortune on a Sunday. They were only $2, but there was a line in back of us.

The balloon colors match the girls silly spring outfits

Having fun at the Aquarium

We had a great day at the aquarium and saw all our favorite sea animals.  We even pet a sea ray!

Snowy day at heavenly

So after a sunny day yesterday with temps in the 50s and bright blue skies under the sun, today was a very snowy day.  It was raining down at lake level, but up at 9000 feet it was mid winter: heavy snow and mist conditions.

Very few people were on the mountain, so I could ski without worrying about people around me.  Yesterday was good day for riding the ski's edges, making big arcs down the mountain, and today was a day for making smaller turns and throwing up big rooster tails of fresh powder.

All of these pictures were late in the afternoon. However at the end of the day I was completely soaked, as the snow had stuck to me, and penetrated all my shells, whose GoreTex has long worn off.
